That is one amazing poster on the marquee. Can you imagine a serious blockbuster movie these days doing something that daring? Whose fault is that?

Than again maybe all movie posters of that era were spectacularly weird and this is just another phoned-in one.

Ok, here’s the deal: @Stabwool and I are collaborating on a real, honest-to-goodness comic!

“COMIC?!” I hear you exclaiming in horror, “WHAT ON EARTH DO EITHER ONE OF YOU HAVE TO DO WITH COMICS?!” and I wholly relate to the sentiment. Finding room in art for speech balloons is a foreign pastime to me as are layouts that involve splitting a page of fixed dimensions into panels. How do people do this? It ain’t natural. I just had to check the wiki page for “speech balloons” because I always wanna call them “bubbles” and feel like that is somehow an amateur misnomer, but wikipedia says either works… I don’t quite trust it… God, I’m such a fraud!

To add more horror to this already horrorful experience, the comic is for The Sleep of Reason horror comic anthology which is full of impressive people who actually do comics. Goddamn, just look at this list!!! Why are we on this list?!? D:

So first order of business: learn to draw… I painted the above panel to better define the tone of the whole thing. Ignore the vaguely people-shaped blobs in the center, the characters will be Lety’s domain, I’m just going through the layouts right now.

This also means that in the upcoming months Hobo Lobo will update even less than it already isn’t. So poops to that. I am super stupid close to the next panel tho. Hopefully it will happen before May.

MAYBE the apocalypse will happen before then, freeing me from my debt-based indentured servitude whereupon I’ll have more time to draw funnies!

The good news is that none of this is new. Throughout history similar crises with no end in sight have been dealt with. I suggest starting your prep with David Graeber’s Debt: The First 5000 Years. Get a long view on the situation.

Then let’s meet up on the filpside and eat the rich.

No need to go after all the rich, mind you—just the biggest assholes. The survivors will get the idea and quickly evolve some noblesse oblige.

This doesn’t look half as bad as it could. Still gotta do some cleanup, synch up the hair, and add the remainder of the scanned frames to the animation… Oh, and draw a few more tweens… ugh, why is drawing this taking so long?! POOP! It doesn’t even look like much. I wish I could be making HobLob full time instead of hustling for the man, if for no other reason, so that it would be done sooner :(
